Happiness visits

This bluebird of happiness ate at my feeder

Bringing me great joy and some degree of relief

If even only for the moment.

Others and their suffering are never far from my thoughts.

Resting in joy is a goal but one I could never maintain.

The guilt of having joy when so many others suffer…..

Still the bluebird of happiness eating at my feeder

Offers a possible approach to resting in joy more or at least at times.

I have to remember to buy more bird food

I need to take the time to fill the feeder

I must look up from my work

I must look away from all the media distractions

I must remember to glance from time to time at the feeder

To see the bluebird of happiness visiting me

Enjoying with me a moment in the morning light
