I am confused also. The only thing that is regularly successful for me is to keep the comment and response chain going and click on the following button so a follower gets an e-mail when I publish then they can start a comment and response chain. I agree completely that Medium is not doing as good a job as other sites in giving authors the tools we need to develop our loyal readers.
