I was working at a school in Arlington County Virginia about three miles from the Pentagon. I was in the US History and Government teacher's classroom watching the morning's tragedy unfolding before our eyes on CNN. The discussion with high school students was intense and uplifting. Then we felt the building shake and windows rattle. Sirens started going off all over Arlington. Then CNN reported the crash at the Pentagon. The school district went into lock down and it was a long day waiting behind locked doors with students for their parents to come and get them. Some of those parents worked at the Pentagon. Driving home I passed through three police checkpoints showing my drivers license and school ID to Arlington or State police before I finally got home. A day I will never forget.
